"Forry" or "4e" saw his first "imagi-movie" in '22, purchased his first sci-fi. magazine in '26, created The Boys' Scientifiction Club in '30, contributed to the first fanzine in '32, and by '33 had 27 correspondents around the world.
He attended the First World Science Fiction Convention in '39 and every Worldcon but one since, published over 50 stories, appeared as a cameo in many films, and represented approximately 200 authors of science fiction and fantasy. He created the term "sci-fi". He also created the graphic novel character Vampirella.
He received his first Hugo in '54. He has recieved two retroactive and three foreign Hugos since then, and was awarded the '97 Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement.
He lives in the 18-room "Ackermansion" in Hollywood, California, in which he has entertained thousands of fans at open houses since '51.
